Which of these fabrics is similar to silk by its softness?

Silk and satin are both smooth and soft. These two materials are widely used by people because of its smoothness.

While silk is natural, satin is artificial. Silk is made from cocoons of silkworms. The fibre is removed from the cocoons and made into threads, which is then woven into clothes. A man-made product, satin can be produced from many types of materials like silk, nylon and polyester.

The silk, which comes in long fibres, is seen to be more durable than satin. Satin is more delicate than silk and so when handling it, more care is needed.

Silk is a type of fibre. Satin is a fabric it is woven into. you can get satin made from silk or polyester.

the answer has compared silk and satin like apples and oranges. Silk is a fibre which can be constructed into a silk FABRIC.. Satin is a FABRIC which has been constructed from a FIBRE eg. silk or polyester. another example. Muslin is a fabric of open plain weave, constructed using cotton yarn which is the cotton fibre. BTW all of the mentioned fabrics could be as soft as each other depending on the way they have been constructed. ever seen RAW SILK fabric?

Most satin is NOT soft. It does not lay nor drape, etc like silk. No comparison is possible. To touch the outer side might be the only way, but that even is very questionable.

No. Satin is a weave. You can have silk satin. You can rayon satin. Get your textile info straight.

Silk is breathable and appropriate for all seasons. Satin does not breath and can be sticky and hot. I always try to talk my clients out of using polyester satin!
