"Catachresis" derives from a Greek word meaning "abuse" and broadly speaking means using a word that is inaccurate and inappropriate.

There are various forms of this. In some instances it can be comic (and perhaps intentional) - akin to malapropism in some ways - such as using "ravished" instead of "ravenous". It can also stem from a simple misconception, an example of this being using "chronic" instead of "acute" in reference to an illness.

It may simply be because no ready alternative springs to mind - such as referring to the "arms" of a chair, or have an element of euphemism, such as "passing away" for dying. The example here is a combination of those last two categories.

The other options comprise, respectively, tautology, synechdoche, and zeugma.
