Which one of the countries listed does not have Saint Andrew as a patron saint?
The Czech Republic has several patron saints - Adalbert of Prague, Agnes of Bohemia, John of Nepomuk, Ludmila, Cyril and Methodius, Procopius, Sigismund, Wenceslas, Vitus – however, Saint Andrew (Andrew the Apostle) is not one of them.
A patron saint or heavenly protector is a saint who in Roman Catholicism, Anglicanism or Eastern Orthodoxy, is regarded as the heavenly advocate of a nation, place, craft, activity, class, clan, family, or person.
St Andrew’s patronage spans many things - nations, including Scotland, Barbados, Georgia, Ukraine, Russia, Greece, Romania; regions and places, including, Burgundy, San Andrés (Tenerife), Candaba, Pampanga, Telhado, Sarzana, Pienza, Amalfi, Luqa (Malta); religious communities such as the Diocese of Victoria (Canada), a monastery in Cyprus, the Diocese of Parañaque (Philippines); trades and people including fishermen, fishmongers, rope-makers, textile workers, singers, miners, pregnant women, butchers, farm workers; and protection against conditions such as sore throats, convulsions, fever, and whooping cough.
Andrew the Apostle was born between AD 5 and AD 10 in Galilee and is said to have been martyred by crucifixion at the city of Patras in Achaea, Greece in AD 60. The name "Andrew" (from Greek “Andreia”, meaning "manly, brave"), appears to have been common among Jews and other Hellenized people of Judea. No Hebrew or Aramaic name is recorded for him.
