A film crew leaves and goes to the mysterious Skull Island, a tropical island for an exotic location shoot. There they discover a colossal ape, King Kong who takes a shine to their female blonde star, Ann Darrow. He is then captured and brought back to New York City for public exhibition.

Annabelle "Ann" Darrow was a fictional character from the 1933 movie King Kong and its 2005 remake, with whom the giant ape Kong falls in love. In the original film, Ann is played by Fay Wray and in the 2005 remake, she is played by Naomi Watts.

Watts was born on 28 September 1968, in Shoreham, Kent, England and is of Welsh decent. After years as a struggling actress in Australia, she moved to the US. Watts came to attention in David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive" (2001). The following year, she was successful with her role as Rachel Keller in "The Ring" (2002). Her subsequent films include "I Heart Huckabees" (2004), "King Kong" (2005), and the crime-thriller "Eastern Promises" (2007). She also played Helen Gandy in Clint Eastwood's biographical drama "J. Edgar" (2011). For her leading role as Maria Bennett in the disaster film "The Impossible" (2012), she received a nomination for the Academy Award.

The 1976 remake features an analogous character named "Dwan" played by Jessica Lange. The character of Ann Darrow never appears in any other films or television productions of King Kong, yet has been seen in the King Kong Comic books.
