"Every man dies...not every man truly lives" is a famous quote by William Wallace and it means that everyone will die but everyone will not get many chances to live happily in their lives. This quote was used in "Braveheart", a 1995 American epic historical fiction war film, directed and co-produced by Mel Gibson, who portrays William Wallace, a late-13th-century Scottish warrior. The film depicts the life of Wallace leading the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England.

Some of the most touching and inspiring elements of the film concern great quotes about freedom, dying and living life with courage and dignity. Mel Gibson's "Braveheart" has now become a successful epic film for several good reasons. For instance, there are impressive battle scenes, in which up to 1,600 extras fight to a (faux) death. There is also the film's very romantic soundtrack and as a good number of critics have noted, "this film has raw power and emotion, in practically every single scene, that seems to come off the screen and exists in the here and now".
