Which Rolling Stones song has been used the most in Martin Scorsese films?
Director Martin Scorsese’s fascination with the Rolling Stones is nearly as famous as either he or the band is. Stones songs have underscored some of the most iconic scenes in Scorsese’s films.
He especially liked to use Rolling Stones songs while introducing prominent characters, from Robert De Niro’s entrance in “Mean Streets” to “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” to Jack Nicholson’s entrance in “The Departed” to “Gimme Shelter.” Scorsese even included the entirety of the “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” in “Casino,” despite the song running over seven minutes long.
But the song Scorsese has used the most is “Gimme Shelter,” which appears in his films four times. It’s heard in “Goodfellas,” “The Departed,” and in two different “Casino” scenes.
