Which state has the lowest population density?

Can you imagine, how much empty space there is in Alaska? This state has the lowest population density: 1.3 people per square mile. Isn't this number amazing? We can imagine people from Alaska staying separately, one person a mile apart from another! This is calculated by dividing the population by the land area. The 2015 population of Alaska is estimated at 738,432 divided by 570,641 square miles. Such information is not surprising, knowing that half of the population of the state lives in one city, Anchorage. By the way, Wyoming has the lowest population of any state but comes next to Alaska in the list due to its small area. Wyoming's population density is 6 people per square mile.

The question refers to population density. That equates not to the number of inhabitants, but the average number of inhabitants per square kilometer/mile of land available.

There’s a saying in Alaska that I love. It relates to the roughly 20 men for every woman stay. When my wife went there and referenced that stat to a woman who worked there, the lady said “Yeah, as we like to say, ‘The odds are good, but the goods are odd.”
