"Little House In The Big Woods" is the first book in a series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It is the beginning story of the Ingalls family and is followed by the book "Little House on the Prairie". This series of children's books is the basis for the popular television series of that name.

"Little House In The Big Woods" tells the story of the family when they lived in a log cabin near Pepin, Wisconsin. The author, Laura, is very young in this beginning book. Her memories of the pioneer life in the 1870's describe what she remembered of events when they lived during that time and in that location. The series continues to follows the family after they moved from Wisconsin, to Kansas and then to South Dakota.

The series has won several literary awards and is recommended reading for children in elementary school.
