Three U.S. presidents have attended the United States Service academies: Ulysses S. Grant and Dwight D. Eisenhower graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, while Jimmy Carter graduated from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.

With Ulysses S. Grant, he graduated in 1843 from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He then served in the Mexican–American War and initially retired in 1854. He struggled financially in civilian life. When the Civil War began in 1861, he rejoined the U.S. Army. Concerning Dwight D. Eisenhower, he graduated from West Point in 1915. After this high point in his life, he subsequently married Mamie Doud and had two sons. After serving in World War II, Eisenhower served as Army Chief of Staff under President Harry S. Truman. Later, he accepted the post of President at Columbia University before he became president of U.S. Next, there is President Jimmy Carter. He achieved admission to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1943. He was a good student, but he was seen as reserved and quiet, in contrast to the academy's culture of aggressive hazing of freshmen. While at the academy, Carter met his future wife Rosalynn Smith, whom he married shortly after his graduation in 1946. Within his academy class, Carter graduated 60th out of 820 midshipmen with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Thus, it is obvious to most people that these presidents truly put their educations to very good use.
