Which U.S. state shares the most borders with other states?

It is a tie. Both Tennessee and Missouri share borders with eight states and also border each other. Here are the states with their multiple neighbors, listed clockwise:

Tennessee: Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri.

Missouri: Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska.

I did a quick mental calculation for each state, and decided that Tennessee and Missouri each bordered 6 states, even though I couldn't name them all at that time. I got the answer right, but I had no idea they each bordered 8 states. At least, my thinking was on the right track.
