The Phelps Sauerkraut Weekend Festival in Phelps, New York celebrates the Phelps area's history as one of the largest producers of sauerkraut in the world. Festival events include: live music, 20k fun run race, Kraut Idol, fireworks, arts & crafts, a parade and a kraut eating contest.
As of 2016, the Sauerkraut Weekend Festival has been held for the last 50 years in Phelps, New York. This particular festival features everything sauerkraut (and cabbage) as well as family fun activities for everyone to enjoy.

John W Shreve, I like it too... I add a bit of honey or maple syrup to it to cut some of the sour taste. Or cut up an apple and throw it in the pot while cooking 😋
