Which year was the famed 'Rockettes Dance Company' founded?

'The Rockettes' are an American precision dance company. Founded in 1925 in St. Louis, they have performed at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, New York City, since 1932.

Until 2015 they also had a touring company. They are best known for starring in the 'Radio City Christmas Spectacular', an annual Christmas show, and for performing annually at the 'Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade' in New York.

English showman, John Tiller sent the troupe of 'Tiller' Girls to perform in the United States in 1900, and by 1922, choreographer Russell Markert saw one of these troupes, known as the 'Tiller Rockets', perform in the 'Ziegfeld Follies' and was inspired to create his own version with American dancers.

As Markert would later recall, "If I ever got a chance to get a group of American girls who would be taller and have longer legs and could do really complicated tap routines and eye-high kicks, they'd really knock your socks off."

The Rockettes have long been represented by the American Guild of Variety Artists. In 1967, they won a month-long strike for better working conditions, which was led by American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA) salaried officer Penny Singleton.

I meant she wasn’t short enough, In heels She exceeded the Height Required. she was too tall by a half inch, but was top heavy, It was all about proportions and she was what was called Statuesque, a real Roman Goddess type. I had a Pastel that was done at the time very much like the Picture ‘Jack Dawson’ does of ‘Rose in the Film “Titanic”. Instead of the magnificent Jewel ‘Heart of the Ocean” my Mother is gazing into a “Sterling Silver” Hand mirror that I still own, it had a ‘ Hair Brush (with natural Boar Bristles). It was produced for Tiffany & Co. in 1937 and was a gift from my Father to her in November of 1939 after his graduation from a form of OCS in the Army Air Corp. She had more or less made part of her assent to marriage on the condition of earning his wings ( he was not a pilot, but a flight engineer and top gunner on B-25s & B-17s and B-24s. Later in the War he was on the crew of a B-29 in the 509th Composite Group (NH).

My Mother ‘Auditioned” in 1940 for them . She hadn’t met my Father yet and was a Cocktail Waitress in Atlantic City at the Time. They had recently made the Move to NYC, but she was too short. She was 5’10” tall for a woman, but was also a bit buxom.
