Who designed the continental currency?

Benjamin Franklin designed both sides of the coin. The obverse features the Sun shining sunlight on a sundial, the Latin motto "Fugio" (I flee/fly), and "Mind your business", a rebus meaning "time flies, so mind your business". The reverse features 13 chain links representing a plea for the Thirteen Colonies to remain united.

The Continental Currency dollar coin (also known as Continental dollar coin, Fugio dollar, or Franklin dollar) was the first pattern coin struck for the United States. The coins were minted in 1776 and examples were made on pewter, brass, and silver planchets.

Given his skill—he had studied economic systems in the Atlantic world and was the first to devise a system of colonial paper bills that were difficult to counterfeit—Franklin was appointed to design, secure copper plates for engraving, and oversee the printing of Continental paper currency.

For those of us who are not American (or just didn't know) Definition of Continental currency 1 : the paper money issued by the Continental Congress during the American Revolution. 2 : a series of early American pattern dollar-size coins, struck in pewter, silver, and brass and bearing on the obverse the legend "Continental Currency" and the date 1776.

Chris Braid, The question should have made clear that the monetary unit was called the "Continental." With little to back it up, when an American wanted to denigrate something's value, he/she would say, "Not worth a Continental." The regular American Army was also called the Continental Army. Since the entire aspiring nation was on the Atlantic coast, the founders must have been thinking big.
