Tom McPherson, Useless information? It would have come in handy in answering this question, wouldn't it? By the way, they don't call it trivia for nothing. You are taking a trivia quiz, so you obviously have an interest in trivia, yet carp when you come across a bit of information you never knew before. Do you think you should know everything or is it that in your arrogance you deem anything you don't know as not worth knowing? It's interesting that those who engage in answering trivia questions proclaim the unimportance of knowing a piece of information when they answer incorrectly, yet are the first to boast of how smart they are when they're correct!

Like a lot of other people, I had never heard of this man. That doesn’t make it a bad question...quite the reverse, in fact. How boring would it be if every question on here had an obvious answer?

Even though he was conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for a fairly large number of years, the few times I saw them live Solti wasn't the conductor. I have a number or recordings of him conducting an number of orchestras, including several with the CSO.

Wow! I absolutely have never heard of him. I assumed it was Jon Williams or Quincy Jones, for certain.

From the moment i read the question, i thought it could be a classical music conductor. There are many categories he could have been nominated. My only hesitation, John Willians , who probably won his share of Grammy. As A movie score composer and as a conductor.

Maybe would have helped had the question asked up until whatever date who was etc because from doing brief research, currently the correct answer is Beyonce. Just my two cents

Need up-date information: The record for the most Grammy Awards won in a lifetime is held by Beyoncé, an American singer, songwriter, record producer and dancer, who has won 32. It was previously held by Georg Solti, a Hungarian-British conductor, who won 31.

Along with the majority I have never heard of of this man or any of the others!. I didn’t think of orchestra conductors being grammy award winners so I learned something new.

Google says Beyonce has 32 Grammy which would tie.

What is commonly known as "The Ring Cycle" (actual title, "Der Ring des Nibelungen", or "The Ring of the Nibelung") is a group of 4 Operas by Richard Wagner, including "Das Rhinegold" ("The Rhinegold"), "Die Walkure" ("The Vakyrie"), "Siegfried" and "Gotterdammerung" ("Twilight of the Gods"), for a total of about 15 hours of performance. Anyone who is familiar with the scene in "Apocalypse Now" where Robert Duval's character is taking the beach by helicopters, or of the Bugs Bunny short "What's Opera, Doc?" will be at least a little familiar with this work.

Although it wouldn't change the answer to this question I don't think special Grammys or Lifetime Achievement Awards are technically something you "win."
