Mickey Charles Mantle, nicknamed The Mick and the Commerce Comet, was an American professional baseball player. Mantle played his entire Major league career with the New York Yankees as a center fielder, right fielder, and first baseman, from 1951 thru 1968. "The Mick" is regarded by many as the best switch hitter in Major League history. He was also one of, if not the best, center fielder in baseball history, a "slugger" at the plate, and a fast sure fielder. Not only did he win the American League "Triple Crown" in 1956, one of only 13 modern era players to do so, he led the entire Major League in all 3 categories. He was the American League MVP on 3 occasions. He was elected to the Major League All-Century team in 1999.
