In the Bible (The New International Version, Judges 16:10), it is Delilah who said to Samson, "You have made a fool of me; you lied to me. Come now, tell me how you can be tied." But before Delilah makes her comments, Samson is portrayed as a man who received great strength from God.

Ultimately he loses his strength when Delilah allows the Philistines to shave his hair off during his slumber (Judges 16:19). Samson had been born into an Israelite family, and he became a legendary warrior and judge. He was a divinely inspired leader who was renowned for his prodigious physical strength.

In written history, Samson (the hero of the Israelites) wins the hand of a Philistine woman, Semadar, in a contest of strength. When she is killed during a fight on her wedding night, Samson becomes a hunted man whom the Philistines, including Semadar's sister, Delilah want to punish. This becomes much more complicated, however, when Samson suddenly acquires God given superpowers, and Delilah's true feelings (love) for Samson surface.
