Who invented the electric fan?

Schuyler Skaats Wheeler (May 17, 1860 – April 20, 1923) was an American engineer who invented the two-blade electric fan in 1882 at age 22. He also patented a type of electric battery. He was awarded the John Scott Medal of The Franklin Institute in 1904 and was president of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers from 1905 to 1906.

Wheeler was born in Massachusetts. His two-bladed electric fan was produced by the Crocker and Curtis Electric Motor Company. He married Amy Sutton on October 11, 1898. He died of angina pectoris at his home in Manhattan.

A few years after his invention, Philip Diehl invented the ceiling fan.

Those geniuses that came up with the ideas to make us comfortable astound me. To begin with he moved air artificially, then another cooled it before moving it. Another warmed it before moving it. Now we can stay comfortable in our homes regardless of the weather year round.

Darrin Bailey, Diehl built a base & mounted it to the ceiling. I have 2 very old models. At 68, they are older than me. Mechanically sound & undented.
