This woman is Jackie Mitchell, born Virne Beatrice Mitchell, and the only woman to strike out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig back to back in an exhibition game between the New York Yankees and the Chattanooga Lookouts in Chattanooga, TN on April 2, 1931.

When she was a child, her father brought her to a ballpark, and taught her the basics of baseball. However, it was her neighbor, Baseball Hall of Famer, Dazzy Vance who taught her how to throw his famous "drop ball".

She began playing Minor League ball at the age of 17, and pitched her first game against the NY Yankees, giving up a double and a single before striking out Ruth and Gehrig back to back, becoming the only woman to ever do so.

She retired in 1937 because she felt she was being used as a publicity stunt, and never played again.
