Edward Thomas "Tom" Hardy is an English actor, screen writer, and producer. He made his debut in Ridley Scott's 2001 action film Black Hawk Down. Tom's other notable films includes the science fiction Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), The crime film RocknRolla (2008), The science fiction thriller Inception (2010). In 2016 he was in the film, The Revenant, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Tom's television rolls included the HBO war drama miniseries Band of Brothers (2001), The British historical miniseries The Virgin Queen (2005).

Hardy has also performed on British and American stages. He was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Newcomer for his role as Shank in the 2003 production of in Arabia We'd All be Kings and was awarded the 2003 London Evening Standard Theater Award for Outstanding Newcomer in both In Arabia We'd All be Kings and for his role as Luca in Blood.

He is now on the short list of actors to take over for Daniel Craig as the new James Bond in the 25th as yet to be named James Bond movie due out in 2017.
