Nathalie Kay "Tippi" Hedren was born January 19, 1930 in New Ulm, Minnesota. She was a former fashion model and was on the cover both of Life and Glamour magazines in the 1950's. Alfred Hitchcock saw her on a television commercial in 1961, and wanted her to star in his next feature film "The Birds." She won a Golden Globe Award for her debut performance in that film and then starred in Hitchcock's next film "Marnie." She has been in over 80 films and television. She is also the mother of actress Melanie Griffith. Also, she is a animal rights and animal rescue activist.
