Who played Jack Ryan's boss Admiral James Greer in the first three movies based on the action novels by Tom Clancy?

Three movies have been produced based on Tom Clancy action novels, featuring Admiral James Greer. All of these movies have featured James Earl Jones in the role as Admiral Greer. The movies are: "The Hunt for Red October" (1990), "Patriot Games" (1992), and "Clear and Present Danger" (1994).

In the books and movies, Vice Admiral James Greer (Retired) is the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Deputy Director of Intelligence. He personally recruited John Clark and Jack Ryan two top agents into the CIA. Greer dies from pancreatic cancer during "Clear and Present Danger" and is laid to rest next to his son, First Lieutenant Robert White Greer (USMC), who died in the Vietnam War (1955 - 1975).
