Vic Morrow is the actor who played Sergeant 'Chip' Saunders on the World War II USA TV action series "Combat!". "Combat!" (1962 - 1967) was a one-hour World War II drama series on the television ABC Network. It followed a frontline American infantry squad as they battled their way across Europe. With mud-splattered realism, the show offered character studies of men striving to maintain their own humanity in the midst of a world torn by war.

Vix Morrow was born in the New York City borough of the Bronx, NY in February 1929. He was kicked out of several high schools before joining the U.S. Navy at 17.

Originally, he wanted to be a lawyer because he admired their courtroom performance. Nonetheless, he studied under Paul Mann at the Actor's Workshop in New York. His first movie role was in "Blackboard Jungle" (1955); he played a thug student who tormented his teacher played by Glenn Ford.

Morrow obtained other roles in films which include: "King Creole" (1958), "God's Little Acre" (1958), "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" (1974), and "The Bad News Bears" (1976).

In 1982, he and child actors Renee Chen and Myca Dinh Le died in a helicopter accident on the set of "Twilight Zone: The Movie" (1983). As a result of the accident, his children filed a wrongful death lawsuit and it ushered in a new era of safety requirements on movie sets.
