Tarzan is a series that aired on NBC from 1966 – 1968. The series portrayed Tarzan (played by Ron Ely) as a well-educated character that had grown tired of civilization, and returned to the jungle where he had been raised.
The show retained many of the trappings of the classic movie series, including Cheeta, while excluding other elements, such as Jane, as part of the "new look" for the fabled apeman that producer Sy Weintraub had introduced in previous motion pictures starring Gordon Scott, Jock Mahoney, and Mike Henry. CBS aired repeat episodes of the program during the summer of 1969.

Yeah, this is an error. "Tarzan in Manhattan" is identified as "an offbeat TV movie" and the first (and, apparently, only) made for TV movie about Tarzan. The Tarzan series, starring Ron Ely, was just that, a series, as you identified in your explanation, Bewley Steve.

Wrong!!!! The question specifically asked for made for TV movie, not TV series. The correct answer is Joe Lara. Ron Ely was certainly the first actor to play Tarzan on TV, but in a series. The first made for TV Tarzan movie was Tarzan in Manhattan which aired in 1984 and stared Joe Lara.
