The skilled actor who plays the father of Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan on the U.S. TV series "Bones" is Ryan O'Neal. O'Neal was Max Brennan and he appeared in seasons 2–12. Calling himself Max Keenan, a.k.a. Max Brennan, he is the father of Russ and Temperance Brennan. He and his wife were non-violent bank robbers who became involved with gangs in the 1970s. They changed identities to lead an honest life with their children. Booth arrests Max on murder charges in season two, and he is tried in season three. The jury finds him not guilty on all counts; he is released. He is finally able to reconnect openly with his children. During season 12, he dies while protecting his grandchildren.
Ryan O'Neal was born Charles Patrick Ryan O'Neal in Los Angeles, California, USA on April 20, 1941 (age 78). He trained as an amateur boxer before beginning his career in acting in 1960. In 1964, he landed a big role on the ABC nighttime soap opera "Peyton Place". The series was a big hit and boosted O'Neal's career. He later found success in films: "Love Story" (1970), Peter Bogdanovich's "What's Up, Doc?" (1972) and "Paper Moon" (1973), Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon" (1975), Richard Attenborough's "A Bridge Too Far" (1977), and Walter Hill's "The Driver" (1978). From 2005 to 2017, he had the role in the Fox TV series "Bones". Also, starting in 2005, besides supporting roles in TV shows and several films, O'neal found success making a tremendous amount of money in real estate.
