Who was the court gardener to the Sun King, Louis XIV, for over 50 years?

King Louis XIV of France also known as the Sun King didn't care to conduct politics. He was fully concerned with obtaining artistic treasures (both man made and those found in nature), which at his death he left behind for the world to completely enjoy.

The king's landscape and garden designer was André Le Notre; he realized the ornate palace gardens at Versailles for the demanding King Louis XIV. Le Notre is the person who worked for the king that was once ignominiously chased from the highest office of the state to die a miserable death in September 1715.

Who was "once ignominiously chased from the highest office of the state to die a miserable death in September 1715?" The Sun King died in 1715, but remained in unfettered splendor to the very end (albeit from gangrene). Le Nôtre died in 1700. Who is this comment about?

André Le Nôtre became the gardener after the king saw his work on the gardens of Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte. The king was attending a special party in his honor @ Vaux-le-Vicomte. He was so impressed by it's splendor that he imprisoned the owner (who was the court treasurer) on the grounds he stole from the treasury to fund his chateau, & seized all of it's treasures for Versailles. That included the gardener!!
