Elizabeth Jordan Carr was born December 28, 1981, (at 7:46 am), to Roger and Judith Carr. She was the first baby born in the United States from the in-vitro fertilization procedure.

The technique was conducted at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk under the direction of Doctors Howard Jones and Georgeanna Seegar Jones. They were the first to attempt the process in the United States.

Little Miss Carr was delivered at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia by Dr. Mason Andrews and she weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces, (about 2.6 kg).

Elizabeth Carr graduated from Simmons College in Massachusetts and became a journalist. She worked with a Maine newspaper before moving to the Boston Globe.

Elizabeth married David Comeau and they have a naturally-conceived son named Trevor.
