The first National League (NFL) quarterback to pass for over 300 yards in a Super Bowl Game was Terry Bradshaw. He did this for the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Pittsburgh Steelers who played the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XIII to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 1978 season. The Steelers defeated the Cowboys by the score of 35–31. The game was played on January 21, 1979, at the Orange Bowl in Miami.
Terry Bradshaw was named Super Bowl XIII - MVP. He completed 17 out of 30 passes for Super Bowl records of 318 passing yards and 4 touchdown passes. Bradshaw eclipsed Bart Starr's Super Bowl record for passing yards in the first half with 253 yards in the air as the Steelers led 21–14 at intermission. His 75-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter tied Johnny Unitas (Super Bowl V) for the longest pass in a Super Bowl.
Bradshaw was born in September 1948) in Shreveport, Louisiana. Besides being a former NFL quarterback for the Steelers, he has since 1994 been a TV sports analyst and co-host of Fox NFL Sunday. He has also become an actor and has participated in TV shows and big screen films, most notably acting in the movie "Failure to Launch" (2006). He now likes to say, "I'm most proud of the fact that I played 14 seasons with Pittsburgh and won four Super Bowl titles in a six-year period (1974, 1975, 1978, and 1979)."
