Who was the first President of the United States born west of the Mississippi River?
Herbert Hoover was born in West Branch, Iowa on August 10th, 1874 in a small cottage that is now part of the National Park Service near the Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum. It is believed that he did not cross the Mississippi until he was 22 years old.
Truman is second at Lamar, Missouri on May 8, 1884. Eisenhower is third at Denison, Texas on October 14, 1890. Johnson is fourth at Stonewall, Texas on August 27, 1908.
