Who was the first President of the United States born west of the Mississippi River?
Herbert Hoover was born in West Branch, Iowa on August 10th, 1874 in a small cottage that is now part of the National Park Service near the Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum. It is believed that he did not cross the Mississippi until he was 22 years old.
Truman is second at Lamar, Missouri on May 8, 1884. Eisenhower is third at Denison, Texas on October 14, 1890. Johnson is fourth at Stonewall, Texas on August 27, 1908.

Richard D. Boyle, ...yes, I think that may have been his undoing, there. And after 2008, especially, I think all of us learned that laissez faire and Wall Street don't create much of a solution, together....

Hoover did nothing to cause the Great Depression…unfortunately, he also did nothing to cure it. He did not believe that the Depression was any of the Federal Government’s business. He believed in laissez faire (let it alone) and that the problem should be left for the business community/Wall Street to deal with.
