Who was the first to obtain a patent for carbon paper?
He obtained it on the 7th of October, 1806
It is an interesting fact that the Italian inventor (P. Turri) had also developed the idea of the carbon paper by at least 1809, but he wasn't the first to patent the invention. We were amazed to know that the both men declared that the invention was made in order to help blind people!
Actually, the invention wasn't used only by the disabled people because the Englishman soon understood that he could sell it as a means of copying business/private letters.

Carol Hughes, you basically, cleared it all up. When you said that Ralph Wedgewood, "patent" carbon paper. After the fact that Pellegrino Turri, "invented" carbon paper.

This wrong. Wedgewood brought in carbon paper in 1806 with a patent. But in 1801 pellegrino, an Italian inventr, invented carbon paper to provide ink for his mechanical typing machine, one of the first typewriters.
