Sirimavo R.D. Bandaranaike became the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka in 1960, by this breaking ground for all the women of the world as the first female P.M. in history. She was busy in politics together with her husband, who was assassinated. After his death the woman became the leader of his political party, overcoming the period of political instability, later moving on to be elected the P.M. of the country.


Together with many other female politicians, Sirimavo R.D. Bandaranaike is considered to be one of the important figures of the women history of the 20th century.
