The host of the 1978–1985 fun US TV game show "Tic-Tac-Dough" was Wink Martindale. Martindale hosted the network and syndicated version of the show, at its start in 1978. He left the program to host and co-produce the 1985–1986 show "Headline Chasers". Jim Caldwell replaced Martindale and hosted "Tic-Tac-Dough" during the 1985–1986 season. In the short-lived 1990 syndicated series, Patrick Wayne hosted the version of the show.
Wink Martindale was born in December 1933 in Jackson, Tennessee, as Winston Conrad Martindale. He became an actor and television producer. He is best known for "Second Honeymoon" (1987), a Canadian game show created and produced by Martindale, hosting "Gambit" from 1972 to 1976 (and again from 1980 to 1981), "High Rollers" from 1987 to 1988, "Debt" from 1996 to 1998, and "Bumper Stumpers" (1987), a Canadian game show. Martindale also had a support role in the action drama sport film "The Lively Set" (1964). He played a nightclub emcee-singer.
Later in his career, Martindale has hosted other TV game shows: Lifetime's highest-rated quiz show, "Debt" (1996–1998) and "Instant Recall" (2010), a hidden camera game show. Some of his other activities include TV guest appearances and small acting role in advertising campaigns, featuring well known brand products. Noting his entire career, it has covered more than 60 years.
