Who was the man that killed no fewer than 42 people as a gunfighter and was the son of a Methodist preacher?
The son of a Methodist preacher, John Wesley Hardin (born on May 26, 1853) was anything but pious. At age 14, John Hardin almost killed a boy in the schoolyard for taunting him. A year later, he shot and killed an ex-slave who had been his friend, who accidentally scratched his face rough housing.
John was known for carrying two pistols in holsters strapped to his chest, which enabled him to be one of the fastest guns in history. John was shot in the back of the head playing dice in El Paso, Texas. John Hardin is credited with killing no fewer than 42 people.
Hardin was killed in 1895, and is buried at the Concordia Cemetery in El Paso, Texas. Ironically, Hardin's killer (John Selman) is buried just a few feet away.
