Who was the only person in the US military to hold the rank of Field marshal?

The only US military general who came close being the American equivalent of a Field Marshal was John J. Pershing, the commander of American forces during WWI. He was promoted to the rank of General of the Armies in 1919 as a recognition of his service during the conflict. This rank is the equivalent of a six star general.

Patton wanted to overrun Russia a d MacArthur wanted Asia "mainly China". They both knew these countries would be problems in the future, like now.

Carroll Price, Yes! But I have some memory of when he came to Chicago. Hundreds of people came out to greet him. I wasn't old enough to go alone but some family members did. I think people started to understand later.

Mr.LaFaye, MacArthur was pushing hard to use nuclear weapons in Korea against the Chinese forces.
Truman knew this would likely get Russia involved as the "friend" of China and could quickly escalate into a nuclear holocaust with millions dying around the globe.
