Reverend Thom, a frequent contributor to “WorldUnited Ministries Archive,” stated that his point is this: many religious texts—not just the Old Testament of the Bible—are written so that adopting the concepts therein without critical thought can result in negative consequences.

In his April 7, 2007 post on WorldUnited Ministries, Rev. Thom titled this essay, "God is Cruel, Perverted, Insane and a Mass Murderer (The God of the Fundamentals, that is.)" and began the essay with "God is Cruel? Surely not!"

To support his observations, Rev. Thom references various passages of the Holy Bible, including Deuteronomy 13:12-18, Exodus 22:19, Exodus 31:12-15, Leviticus 20:9, Leviticus 20:10, Romans 1:24-32, Second 2 Chronicles 15: 12-13, Second Kings 2:23-24, and Second Samuel 12:11-14.

He also compares Christian Fundamentalists with Islamic Fundamentalists.

Perhaps with good reason and definitely understandably, Reverend Thom does not reveal any details about himself, choosing to remain anonymous apart from his chosen pen name.
