As to the others, while it might have been nice to have been given that information, if you REALLY wanted to know, you could have done some research yourself. Then, to be really helpful, you could have shared it with us all as I am now doing. For your information, Queen Elizabeth II is the longest serving British monarch, having reigned since February 6, 1952; over 65 years. Her reign lengthens with each new day. Queen Victoria reigned from 20 June 1837 - 22 January 1901 or 63 years, 7 months, and 2 days. Richard II reigned from 21 June 1377 - 30 September 1399 or 22 years, 3 months, and 9 days. All of this took less than 10 minutes to discover by surfing the web. Ain't modern technology wonderful?

Why is it we constantly hear that Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning Monarch.

Louis XIV ruled and reigned. Elizabeth II and Victoria only reigned. As he said, L’Etat, c’est moi. They can say Tourist attraction, that is me.

It really does amaze me how many people got the answer to this question wrong and then complain claiming the answer is wrong without giving any proof to their claim. The answer to the question is CORRECT. King Louis XIV reign of 72 years and 110 days may be surpassed by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms several years from now.

I miss read the question, Whose reign is the longest, not who has ruled the longest, as he became King at 4yrs, then yes he started his reign then, but he ruled when he was in his 20's. Thank you, you are right.
