Women blink nearly twice as much as men.
It is a myth! The thing is that "blink rates" are identical for both sexes. Scientists proved that an interval between each blink is about 2-10 seconds so an average individual blinks about ten times per minute.
It is an interesting fact that we blink less frequently if our eyes are focused on an object. For instance, when you are reading, you blink just three times per minute!
What are your thoughts on this subject?

This is another debatable & controversial topic, and it is good to see that some people, like me, have done some research. Wikipedia says 'no', women don't, it is a myth, with blink rates being almost identical. Mother Nature Network says 'yes' women do, but it is a rumor & popular belief difficult to back with scientific fact. Dr. Oz / The Oz Blog says 'no' women don't, & that it is a common myth, with men & women usually blinking at identical rates. I found two other sources, one a government study that favored with women blinking almost twice as much as men, and some guy on YouTube that just made the statement, with no supporting data or references, that women blink twice as much as men. So, after my research I decided to go with 'yes', even though I am not really convinced that 'yes' is necessarily correct. I guess it doesn't really matter though, since either way it doesn't change anything in my life. I just do this for the fun of it & to maybe learn some new & interesting stuff. Have a great day everyone!

I did not know the answer to this question, but I happened to be sitting in the DMV office when I saw this quiz. I answered false based on my observation of the mixed crowd I was in. I observed that whether man or woman, old or young, all were blinking at about the same rate. Blink rates only varied when people were doing different things. The ones who were looking around blinked more. The ones who were studying or reading blinked less. The same people that were reading, would also blink more when they would stop reading, male or female. In my opinion, it is a myth that women blink nearly twice as much. That's my 2 cents worth.

It is a myth that women blink nearly twice as much as men.[9] Average male and female blink rates are almost identical, although women using oral contraceptives blink 32% more often for unknown reasons.[10] Generally, between each blink is an interval of 2–10 seconds; actual rates vary by individual averaging around 10 blinks per minute in a laboratory setting. However, when the eyes are focused on an object for an extended period of time, such as when reading, the rate of blinking decreases to about 3 to 4 times per minute. This is the major reason that eyes dry out and become fatigued when reading.

It's been scientifically proven that women blink almost twice as often as men and older women blink more often as they grow older! I protest the answer to this question!

Results: Spontaneous blink rate was significantly larger in women than in men (19 vs 11 blinks per minute); older women blinked more frequently than younger women...so this would qualify as almost
please give me my point

Bad question. Some sources say it is true. Others say false. There doesn't seem to be a definitive correct answer!

The national library of medicine published a study stating that women blink more than men by at least 19 to 11 times per minute.

A good fun question. Had a good laugh at some of the comments

teacherchicky, I would imagine both male and female would blink more as they get older as their eyes are changing in some cases quite dramatically, it often depends a lot on their health and lifestyle. Because it is scientifically proven doesn't always make it right

I despise these true-false questions. It seems that you can always find some official style or scientific report that states the opposite of what the correct answer is supposed to be. I think all the true-false questions should be done away with.

After getting this wrong according to the information you supplied, I looked it up and found info suggesting the opposite of what you say.
"Blink rate, eyelid displacement as a percentage of maximum excursion, and maximum eyelid velocity in closing and opening were calculated. Results: Spontaneous blink rate was significantly larger in women than in men (19 vs 11 blinks per minute); older women blinked more frequently than younger women."
