It reached number seven on the US "Billboard" 100 early in 1958 and number fourteen on the "R&B" (rhythm and blues) Chart. The song was also released in the UK, where it reached number six on the UK "Singles Chart". In Canada, the song reached number two with the B-side "When I Stop Loving You (That'll Be the Day)" reaching number 39 on the Canadian Charts.
Paul Albert Anka (born July 30, 1941) is a Canadian and American singer, songwriter and actor. His most famous songs include "Diana", “You Are My Destiny", “Lonely Boy", "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" and "(You're) Having My Baby".
Anka also wrote the theme for "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson"; one of Tom Jones' biggest hits, "She's a Lady"; and the English lyrics to Claude François and Jacques Revaux's music for Frank Sinatra's signature song "My Way", which has been recorded by many, including Elvis Presley.
