Pat Askew, The original word was spelled "minuscule". "Miniscule" is becoming acceptable because so many people MISSPELL "minuscule" that way. Language changes with usage. That's why "irregardless" is considered to be a real word, even though its meaning is the same as "regardless". Like "miniscule", "irregardless" is considered poor form by language purists because of its literal, double-negative meaning, but constant (mis)usage dictates it be included in the dictionary.
