Chrissie, I live in New Jersey, USA. A child might say they will be having ice cream before dinner. The parent would respond that he has another thing coming. That would be ice cream after dinner, if at all. The phrase indicates that the thing the child wants will not be coming when he expects it, after all. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Judy Codona, I am American and have always said another thing coming, so that if a person thinks they are doing well and expect a reward, or have a wish the other thinks is unreasonable, they have another thing coming. I am not certain if I ever heard think, and where. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Not so sure about "another think coming". I've never used that phrase concerning thoughts. Oh well. At least the answers were included.

14/14 pretty easy standard sayings. Can't believe people who say "another THING coming" - of course it is "another THINK coming" you THOUGHT wrong in the first place so now THINK AGAIN. Like people who say SOMETHINK instead of SOMETHING

Here we go again with the argument about another think coming. Put it in context: if you THINK I’m doing your ironing for you, you have another THINK coming. If I were to put it another way: do you really THINK I’m doing your ironing? Would you say: do you really THING I’m doing your ironing? The subject of the sentence is what someone THINKS. He or she is thinking wrongly, in the opinion of the listener, so the listener says they need to have another think.

Pat Anne Hughes Everett, You've got another "think" coming means you need to think again because what you thought the first time was wrong!
