The requirement to choose the “ incorrect” answer can become confusing. At times I automatically choose the correct one out of habit.

What a rubbish quiz. The grammar was terrible.

Christopher Skinner, Americanisms? I'm American and these are not Americanisms per se, and I take exception to your categorizing American English as not being "proper English". That's really funny coming from an Australian, whose English is as far removed from the King's English as American English is. Your reference to the use of "effect" and "ironic" being questionable are good examples of the tenuous grasp you have on English usage anywhere around the world. Thanks for the chuckle!

I also disagree with most of the answers which seem to be Americanisms, rather than proper English, the use of effect was one such case and also the ironic one was highly questionable.

11/15. But I disagree on 3 of the answered marked wrong. Option could go either way.

Yes, I "got into grammar school", but these words were way beyond the comprehension of most "grammar" (elementary) school students. Don't think I ever heard anyone in elementary school use the words "enormity" or "practicable"!

I had to keep reminding myself that I had to select the INcorrect option. I got two wrong and in both cases clicked too quickly on the 'correct' option which was incorrect!
