Having studied geography for most of my formal education I always wonder why Europe is considered a separate continent to Asia, they are not only contiguous but have quite a long boundary unlike N and S America or Africa and the Middle East. I think more in terms of eurasia so there are only 6 continents. But who am I to criticise eurocentric geographers throughout history.

stevemanning, this question catches me out every time. As far as I recall, the Nile is about 200 km longer than the Amazon unless the Amazon had now got longer or the Nike shorter

I never know how to answer the longest river question because we only have a 50/50 chance of getting it right. None of the question writers can agree on the correct answer being the Nile or the Amazon rivers. If it's too close to call then please stop asking.

Let’s leave this Nile vs. Amazon river debate to other quiz clubs and focus on other trivia! 😜

Anne Tisdell, Me too. We were taught at school the amazon was the longest, but that was a long time ago and is now incorrect!!!

The Nile is the longest river in the world, but the Amazon is the largest.

Number 8 is wrong again. The Amazon is the LARGEST river by means of volume of water moved. The Nile is, and always been the LONGEST river.

This day in age, if we can't measure the exact lengths of these rivers with satellites, drones, etc., let's just call the whole thing off! Lol
