Merseyside is a metropolitan and ceremonial county, with a population of 1.4 million, created on 1 April 1974 as a result of the Local Government Act 1972. It sits within the historic counties of Lancashire and Cheshire, covering both banks of the lower reaches of the Mersey Estuary and including the boroughs of Knowsley, St Helens, Sefton, Wirral, as well as the City of Liverpool.

8/20 LOL, I knew I would do badly on this quiz. I normally would be a little upset about such a poor score but not this time. I wouldn't expect to know anything about counties in England. Thanks for correct answers!

16/20. I chose Merseyside for Liverpool because I thought that was what was wanted, but it's not a county!

18/20, not good for a geographer who's lived in Britain almost all his life. At least I could see all the answers. I was in Crew last year but went by train so didn't see it's county, Guildford was a silly mistake, my parents used to live near there.
