rweing, It has parts in both. I think more of its mass is in Asia, more population in Europe

Dino K., The Soviet Union (also known as the USSR) was a country which existed in eastern Europe and northern Asia between 1922 and 1991. I believe that covers 1975.

rweing, The eastern boundary of Europe and Asia is the Ural Mountains. So, Russia is part of both continents.
