Cheryl Love, I think that depended very much on where you went to school. Even the classes I took with a “world” view were extremely US centric in their tunnel vision. Perhaps it is easier for an outsider to see (I am an Aussie). Even concepts such as socialism and communism were so poorly defined as to be virtually inseparable for young impressionable students. I’m talking early 1970s Mid West here.

Berkley Folks, we had courses on world history, yes. More than USA history. I don’t know about kids today, what they’re taught, but school in the 50s/60s was very good.

Tal Segal, 9/9 for me. I wouldn’t expect those not from here to know these. Some are fairly obscure.

Can I answer these 8th Grade History questions?' Yes I can but these aren't 'history' questions, these ar 'American history' lessons. Try asking real history lessons, not just 'yesterday' questions from 1492 - as the date indicates, there was a lot more history before America was invented.

mikeyparry, The preface to this test clearly states that the test was administered in Minnesota. Where do you suppose Minnesota is?

myers nj, These are all familiar subjects to anyone who has studied American history in the US. There were no obscure questions here. I learned this by the time I was 13 or 14! Where did you go to school, that this information seems obscure to you? I can understand it being obscure to non-Americans perhaps, but this was all included in the New Jersey curriculum.

Antonio Cobian, What are you talking about? There were answers. They came up green when correct, red when wrong with the correct answer in green! SMH
