Peter Abrams, mostly agree with you, only I would say pin not pi number another pet peeve of mine is when people say Vin number (vehicle identification number number?) Of course you could have a pin or Vin number if you make a list of your pins or vins

I have always loved the origin of TASER...Thomas A Swift Electric Rifle. But surely PIN should be either "PI Number OR simply PIN. It's NOT a PIN Number...because one is saying: "Personal Identification Number Number" in that case. The second 'number' is redundant. I know as well I am fighting a losing battle here, because no one is ever going to change his or her was of referring to their PIN as their PI Number; they will continue saying PIN Number, in spite of its being wrong.
