24/25 lived in Upstate NY my whole life except for 5 months in Alabama. Like many others missed fais-dodo and still have no idea what it is.

colleenmar, Fais do-do is Creole taken from the French. It means go to sleep..Used at dances.

My mother was French Canadian and my father was Boston Irish. He would tell us to "fait dodo" when he wanted us to go to sleep. That was the only French he knew, and I thought he made it up since I never learned that expression in 13 years of a French school.
