Can You Score 5/10 In This High School Math Quiz?

jude h, I learned it that way, too, but current rules seem to be that the MD and AS of PEMDAS are interchangeable. A value next to parentheses is understood to be multiplication

10/10 but I know there’s a lot of controversy over that next to last I believe. In PEMDAS, multiplication and division are considered equivalent operations, as are addition and subtraction. So, you take care of the parentheses then do the operations from left to right. I understand this was a clarification made after I (age 66) was done taking math classes in college, haha!

Johnny Rock, 2nd to last does follow order of operations; after you do the brackets then you go left to right 48/8x6=36. I too fell the trick lol

Pamela S Jones, order is PMDAS. Multiply times the solution in the bracket before you add. 4*2=8 +5=13

I figured this quiz wouldn't follow order of operations and got the first one wrong. So, I went with the order of operations in the last one or the next to last one and it didn't follow that rule. 8/10
