lls, I totally agree! I thought the author of the question was referring to the miscarriage she had which is one that I remember. A miscarriage is not a child. Thank you for pointing out the sequel (if you can call it that) which to me didn't count as it was not written by Margaret Mitchell. I'm at least less confused than I was before. Thanks again

lls, Ok, I totally apologize and am now probably leaving quizzclub. Sis has pointed out all 3 of Scarlett's children in the orig. GWTW, so it's obvious I have a mental lapse! Thank you, everyone, for your tolerance and patience...pretty sure there is a literature doctor out there, who will medicate me...I read the orig. & skimmed the sequel...apparently, all of my synapses are transposed...most sorry, to all... :(

lls, Absolute kudos on mentioning the Winston Graham "Poldark" novels, though--they were even better than either series, and my mom and I loved reading them! :>)

...I take some exception to Scarlett's "3" children. No shade against Alexandra Ripley, but Scarlett had 1 child, and that was Bonnie. If the question was to move beyond "the original" Margaret Mitchell GWTW plot, that should have been called out...not certain that general literature ever accepted Alexandra Ripley's sequel, as "canon," unfortunately...
