Thanks for including the answers. Questions 4 and 6 are a bit shaky. Magellan did not make it around the world - was killed in what is now the Philippines. Members of his expedition did. Leif Ericson might be the earliest "known" European. There could have been others. Rewriting the question would make it more accurate.

I believe there is some dispute on whether Hillary was the first, or his guide Tenzing Norgay.
If anyone knows for certain, please enlighten me.
