Pairs are two things that are matched. two animals with four legs and not two animals one with two and one with four. or two unmatched animals can be a pair because they are animals. So in this case the answer could have been zero for all of them because they were capital and small letters. They had them arranged as upper and lower case letter so a matching pair would have been any letter with both cases.
